How to export your content to Excel or Google Sheets

Learn how to transfer your SessionLab session data to Excel or Google Sheets using a simple workaround.

Written by Andy

SessionLab does not currently have a direct way to export a session to Excel or CSV. However, if you need more than the high-level agenda (for example, activity descriptions, facilitator notes, goals, materials and other session details), you can use the AI Assistant as a simple workaround.

Ask the AI Assistant to format the full session as Markdown, which you can then copy into another AI tool such as ChatGPT or Claude and ask it to convert the information into Excel or CSV format.

  • For example, you could ask the AI Assistant:
"Format this entire session as clean Markdown, including the session name and description and, for every activity, the name, duration, start time, description, facilitator notes, goals and materials."

The AI Assistant can use the content of your current session when responding, so this can give you a much more complete representation of your agenda than the Copy to clipboard option.

  • Once you have the Markdown, copy it into your preferred AI tool and ask it something like:
"Convert this Markdown into a CSV file that I can open in Excel. Put each activity on its own row and include separate columns for the activity name, start time, duration, phase, description, facilitator notes, goals and materials."

You can then review and adjust the resulting spreadsheet before using it elsewhere.

Which option should I use?

I only need the agenda structure and timings
Use Copy to clipboard.

I need the full content of my session in Excel or CSV
→ Ask the AI Assistant for the session in Markdown, then transform it into your preferred format using ChatGPT, Claude, or another tool, as described above

I need a printable or presentation-ready version
→ Use one of SessionLab's other export options, such as PDF, Word or PowerPoint.
